Mercy Rivera, Intern

Recognizing Strengths. Building Resilience.

I believe that healing and personal growth happen when individuals feel genuinely heard, valued, and supported. My passion is walking alongside people as they navigate life's transitions, stress, and emotional challenges. With a Bachelor's degree in Human Services and currently completing my Master's degree, I combine a strong understanding of individual and family needs with practical clinical training.

Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based techniques, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I help individuals identify unhelpful patterns, build emotional resilience, and develop practical coping skills for everyday life. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can recognize their strengths, feel supported in their experiences, and move toward meaningful change.

My professional experience as a Family Service Worker within the school system has strengthened my ability to build trusting relationships with individuals and families, understand their concerns, and connect them with meaningful resources and support. This experience has reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are and recognizing that every person and family brings their own unique experiences, strengths, and story.

"Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity"
