Elizabeth Wheatley, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Elizabeth has a holistic, client focused approach to care with over 40 years of nursing experience encompassing inpatient med/surg units, Emergency Department, family practice, and psychiatric care.

Within the context of medication management, Elizabeth works with clients to find a balance in medications which address brain biochemistry for a wide variety of psychiatric concerns. Elizabeth believes clients need to understand what medications are expected to accomplish and does significant client education. She also works with clients doing thought process work that often also involves collaboration with the client’s individual therapist. She utilizes an eclectic mix of therapies including CBT, DBT, Motivational interviewing, and mindfulness interventions.

Dr. Wheatley regularly interfaces with church leaders regarding the impact of psychological trauma on individuals. Her clinical and research interests include: the impact of psychological trauma on the individual, family, and community; the Nurse Practitioner’s role in trauma prevention and treatment; collaboration and communication between health care professionals, and the impact of trauma on faith.

Outside the professional realm, she enjoys family activities, fishing, reading, needlework, gardening, rockhounding, and baking bread.
