John Cook

Experience. Connection. Compassionate Care.

Life brings seasons of change, uncertainty, and challenges that can sometimes feel difficult to navigate alone. John believes counseling provides an opportunity to slow down, gain perspective, and move toward greater emotional well-being. With a calm, personable, and down-to-earth approach, he creates a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves while working toward meaningful growth and change.

John brings more than 25 years of experience in full-time ministry, having served as a pastor in two churches in Stafford, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Ministry from Harding University, along with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling: Marriage and Family and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health from Liberty University. He currently serves as a Resident in Counseling and brings decades of experience supporting individuals and families through many different seasons of life.

John's therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine connection. He integrates evidence-based counseling with an emphasis on Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while developing practical strategies for positive change. For clients who desire it, his extensive ministry background also allows him to thoughtfully incorporate faith and spirituality into the counseling process.

"Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity"
